VDC PRESIDENCY

The Association for Dermatological – Surgery, or VDC for short, is the first Dutch-language initiative to bring this new discipline into a professional and scientific association. The task was to spread knowledge and expertise by organizing conferences and publishing articles. Through several meetings per year the platform for growth and specialization was created. Dr. Ilan Karavani was elected twice as President of VDC, and in the early years helped pave the way to what we now know as Cosmetic Dermato-surgery.

After his residency in 1991, Dr. Karavani remained as a Consultant for Dermatological Surgery at the University Hospital of Antwerp, Belgium (UZA), where trained future dermatologists in the art and skills of skin surgery.

In 1997 He organized the World Congress on dermatological surgery in Amsterdam, the yearly event of the International Society of Dermatological Surgery (ISDS).
